Kompanija koja će nastati spajanjem talijansko-američkog Fiata Chryslera i francuskog PSA, vlasnika Peugeota, zvat će se Stellantis, objavila su dva automobilska diva.
Nakon planiranog dovršetka spajanja u prvom kvartalu 2021. godine, imena i logo brendova-sastavnica novonastale grupe ostat će nepromijenjeni, dodaje se u zajedničkom priopćenju, objavljenom u srijedu.
Tvrtke napominju da će se novo ime koristiti samo kao korporativni brend na razini grupe. Sljedeći korak u tom procesu bit će osmišljavanje loga.
Novo ime tvrtke potječe od latinskog glagola koji znači 'obasjati zvijezdama', navodi se u priopćenju.
U prosincu prošle godine Fiat Chrysler i PSA dogovorili su 50 milijardi dolara teško spajanje kojim će nastati četvrti najveći proizvođač automobila u svijetu a objedinit će pod istim krovom brendove Fiat, Jeep, Dodge i Maserati te Opel i DS, podsjeća Reuters.
U postupku odabira novog imena novonastale kompanije bila je angažirana Publicis Grupa, navode kompanije u priopćenju.
Fiat Chrysler, PSA to emerge as Stellantis following merger next year
(Reuters) - The combined company resulting from the merger of Italian-American carmaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCHA.MI) and France’s Peugeot owner PSA (PEUP.PA) will be called Stellantis, the automakers said on Wednesday.
Stellantis is derived from the Latin verb “stello”, which means “to brighten with stars,” the companies said.
The names and the logos of the group’s constituent brands will remain unchanged after the deal’s projected close in the first quarter of 2021.
In December, Fiat Chrysler and PSA agreed to combine in a $50 billion all-share deal to create the world’s fourth-biggest carmaker, and unite brands such as Fiat, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Maserati with the likes of Peugeot, Opel and DS.
The process of identifying the new name for the merged company was supported by Publicis Group (PUBP.PA), the companies said.

Paris (dpa) - The merger of car manufacturer Fiat Chrysler (FCA) and Peugeot maker PSA is to be called "Stellantis," the companies announced on Wednesday evening.
"The Latin origins of the name pay homage to the rich history of the founding companies," they said in a joint statement.
The name is based on the Latin verb meaning to brighten or adorn with stars. The connection to astronomy captures the true spirit of optimism, energy and renewal that underlies this merger, the companies said.
The new name will only be used as a corporate brand at group level. The next step in this process is to reveal a logo. The names and logos of the group's constituent brands would remain unchanged.
PSA with the brands Opel, Peugeot, DS and Citroen and FCA decided to merge in December, which should create the fourth largest carmaker in the world.
The EU competition watchdog had recently raised concerns and launched an in-depth investigation that could take until October 22. The merger should be completed by the beginning of next year, the companies reiterated on Wednesday.
